Our Story

Edy’s Grocer is North Brooklyn’s very first Lebanese Market and Deli in the heart of the historic Greenpoint neighborhood and opened last August 2020. We specialize in providing a wide range of imported groceries from all over the Middle East such as spices, oils, pickled goods, jams, and sweets. We also package our own nuts, dried fruits, grains, flours, spices and snacks in-house daily.  Beyond the pink and green shelves of the Grocer, Chef Edy has curated a rotating monthly menu with his own twist on modern Lebanese cuisine. You will find an array of house-made mezze and cheeses, baked goods, man’oushe, seasonal salads and sandwiches. There is always something new to try each time you visit Edy’s Grocer!

After years of catering and trying to pivot through the pandemic, it all aligned when the former owner of “Maria’s Deli”, Maria Puk, stepped down from her business after 43 years— and Chef Edy took over and reopened the storefront as the new Edy’s Grocer!

About Chef Edy

Born and raised in the Northern region of Lebanon, Chef Edy immigrated to Boston with his family at a young age. Since his arrival, he has felt a strong passion for preserving his culture here in the States with the thing he loves the most- cooking! So after a childhood of learning from his grandmother, Odette, Edy’s mission became to spread the joy of Lebanese cooking. At the age of 10, Chef tirelessly researched to find the right ingredients that were not easily accessible stateside. He began experimenting with techniques and substituted elements in order to recreate the distinct essence of Lebanese food, but with a modern twist. Beyond his cooking, Chef also wanted to find a way to bring Middle Eastern ingredients to people’s daily kitchens and pantries, which fueled his desire to open the Grocer, stocked with Middle Eastern ingredients.

While running the business 5 days a week, Chef has recently brought back catering for small intimate gatherings. His catering is now a combination of his well-known modern Lebanese cooking, his signature Brown Paper Board mezze spreads, and a selection of menu items from Edy’s Grocer.

Mission Statement:

“I believe that good, thoughtful food creates community. Food is a universal language that brings people together, and inevitably creates common ground.”
